Essential Festival!!

Tomorrow i'm going to this music festival called the Essential Festival in Melbourne at the Esplanade Hotel. I'm so exited!!

Its mostly aussie bands so that will give me a bit of taste of the aussie music scene. I think the only bands that are not aussie at the festival is Ratatat and Shocking Pinks. I've seen Ratatat before at the Iceland Airwaves festival i think 3 years ago and they were so good.

I'm sooooo ready to taste the aussie music!!

Australian Football

On saturday i went to my first Australian footy game! I asked two of my friends here in Melbourne if they would take me to a game with them. They agreed to do that but only if i would support their team. So now i'm a Collingwood supporter! I love how everyone here is so passionate about footy! I had so much fun at the game... even though Collingwood lost against North Melbourne... but it was just so exiting to be there amongst 30.000 faithful supporters screaming their lungs out to encourage their team. And it seems to be such a family thing here. Very young kids shouting "You bags of potatoes! Run faster" just made me laugh!!!

(Me and a young Collingwood supporter that sat behind me)

I suppose i should get into the Melbourne spirit and end this post with saying "Go Collingwood"!

Blek le Rat

I bought this amazing book called Getting Through the Walls by Sybille Prou and King Adz. It goes through the history of the stencil artist called Blek le Rat in photos and writing. I really love his work. If you don't know him... you absolutely have to check his work out.

Mr. Blek le Rat has a thing for sheeps just like me;)

I'm alive and kicking!

Finally i've decided i must write something on this blog of mine. Been in Australia now for about 4 weeks... pretty crazy how time flies. I'm renting with 3 other girls in Armadale in St Kilda which is pretty cool cause we all have our own rooms and the rent is cheap. The first few day after i got here were SO HOT! About 40 degrees! A bit of a change coming from Denmark where it was around 2 degrees before i left. But like Iceland the weather here seems to change dramaticly. My second week here it dropped down to 15-20 degrees. My greek taxi driver that drove me from the airport told me that Melbourne was famous for its unpreditable weather. Something that i should be used to;) Two weeks ago we had quite the storm here... few people even got killed. It was so strange cause the sky was almost red/brown and it looked like there was a sand storm coming.

St Kilda, the area where i live, is about 20 min from Melbourne city center. I really like that area cause its the hot spot for new upcoming artist and musicians. It full with cool cafes and restaurants from all over the world. Its close to the city but also close to the beach. But i still feel like i've got so much more to explore. I've been here for a month and i still havent really explored the city to its fullest.

Been invited to a few parties and gatherings here which has been an education for me. Was even invited to my first aussie bbq with about 30 people in a funny little suburbia about an hour away from the city. There i got to know this new upcoming artist that invited me to the opening of his exhibition. He's a painter that does mostly stencil art. At the opening they even had chease and wine. Now thats fancy!

Its been weird not working... but i have to say that i luv it!
