Not the only Icelander in paradise...

Went to see Múm a few weeks ago at the Corner Hotel. Oh they were so good! A felt like one proud viking. It was a bit weird hearing all the aussies laugh as soon as the Múm member started to speak english with their Icelandic accent. It didnt really matter what they said the aussies just couldn't stop laughing! I guess the Icelandic accent is quite different from what they are used to hearing. It was interesting to see how the aussies responded to Múm... they really loved them!

Its a bit funny to see how people here react when you tell them that you come from the land of ice... they just cant believe it! Usually they know at least Björk... some Sigur Rós and others know our soccer player Eiður Smári Guðjónssen. The most common thing people ask me about is if Iceland is green and Greenland ice. Usually i'm the only icelander they have ever met and most likely the only one they will ever meet. I dont feel i'm doing my country much justice. But i'm starting to feel like the Icelandic government should be paying me because i sure am trying to sell my country in the best possible way. I've been given a few new nick names since i got here. I've been called Sandra Ice, Iceland and oh yeah Miss Iceland! I feel pretty bad for my beautiful country for having me as their representative.

Just like the weather...

Its such an interesting thing moving from one country to another. Packing up all your stuff gives you an opportunity to reorganize your things and in a way your life too. I love the hole process of throwing away old junk... and you wonder how and why you kept these things in the first place.

I have to say though that this time its different. When i moved away from Iceland it was such a bittersweet feeling. I have so strong feeling about my little island... it was weird to move away and to say goodbye for now at least. My time in Iceland has been so dramatic, there i've been down in the deepest valley and up to the highest mountain and every thing between. So extreme... just like the weather. Not very healthy i guess but i love it all the same. All that energy... its insane! hihi

Living in Denmark has been so different in that way. Of course there have been their up and downs but most of the time its been very much the same ... and guess what... so has the weather! In that way its been sort of boring for an extremist like me...hihihi I guess that's the conclusion then? Every country is like its weather? hihihi i don't know! I cant wait to see what the weather in Australia is gonna do to me!
